Diving in January 2005
People often ask if we do any diving and training in the winter months in Florida. We of course answer affirmatively, but below are some pictures we took in January of 2005 to prove it. These were taken in the springs and the oceans. Some of the dive sites shown below include Blue Spring, Deleon Springs, Blue Grotto, Manatee Springs, Buford Spring, 5 Holes at Suwannee River State Park, and Lantana Drift dives (near West Palm Beach). Other dive sites not listed that we visited in January include Forty Fathoms, Peacock Springs, Little River, Ginnie Springs, Falmouth Springs, Eagle's Nest and Jug Hole at Ichetucknee Springs State Park.
The water temperatures are 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22C), year round in the springs. The water temperature in the ocean, near West Palm Beach, where we dive, was 75 degrees Fahrenheit (24C) this January.
